“I spent 7 years on the sick bed, I used to vomit blood” – Old interview of Taiwo Hassan resurfaces following his demise

An old interview of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has resurfaced online following reports of his death after a battle with stage-four cancer.

In the interview, the actor opened up about a difficult period in his life when he battled a severe illness that left him bedridden for several years.

According to Taiwo Hassan, he spent seven years on a sick bed and experienced frightening health challenges, including vomiting blood. He also revealed that he remained prayerful throughout the difficult period.

“I spent 7 years on the sick bed, I used to vomit blood. I prayed while making my prayers for a long time. It was a terrible period. Before my mother passed away, she gave birth to 13 children, they all died before her face till we remained three,” he said.

The veteran actor’s account also highlighted the painful loss his mother experienced before her death, revealing that 13 of her children had died, leaving only three surviving children.

The resurfaced interview has drawn renewed attention from fans and colleagues who have continued to remember the actor’s life and career following reports of his passing.

Taiwo Hassan was one of the prominent figures in Yoruba cinema, having featured in numerous movies throughout his decades-long career and earned recognition for his contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

His old account of overcoming a prolonged illness has also offered fans a glimpse into some of the personal struggles he faced before becoming one of the most recognisable actors in Yoruba entertainment.
