Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has expressed disappointment that Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has never personally acknowledged the support he claimed to have offered during the last general election.
Fayose made the remarks in a video shared on Friday while responding to criticism over his recent meeting with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The outspoken commentator insisted that his support for Obi’s presidential ambition came at a personal cost, saying he invested both time and resources in the campaign but never received any form of appreciation from the former Anambra State governor.
According to Fayose, he went beyond verbal endorsements by providing logistical support, including making one of his hotels available for campaign activities and participating in protests organised by supporters of the Obidient movement.
“Do you know how much I spent on the last election? Do you know how much I spent on your Obi? I even gave you people my hotel. I even came to the protest,” he said.
Fayose lamented that despite his commitment to Obi’s campaign, the former Labour Party presidential candidate had never reached out to thank him.
Drawing a comparison with his recent encounter with Seyi Tinubu, he praised the president’s son for showing what he described as humility and appreciation.

“Seyi is a good boy. He removed his cap and appreciated me. Has Obi come to greet me since I started campaigning? Has Obi come to say thank you? Did you people send me the work?” Fayose queried.
Addressing the backlash that followed his meeting with Seyi Tinubu, Fayose maintained that there was nothing inappropriate about interacting with members of the ruling family.
He argued that maintaining cordial relationships across political divides should not be mistaken for abandoning one’s political convictions.
According to him, respecting individuals from different political camps is compatible with supporting a preferred candidate.
Fayose also commended Seyi Tinubu’s conduct during their meeting, describing him as respectful and courteous.
The businessman further criticised some supporters of the Obidient movement, accusing them of expecting others to make sacrifices on their behalf instead of actively participating in the political process.
“You people are not even worth it. You are there waiting for my own people to liberate you when you can liberate yourselves,” he said.
He stressed that political movements require collective sacrifice and commitment rather than dependence on a handful of prominent supporters.
Fayose also reaffirmed his admiration for President Bola Tinubu and his son, saying his Yoruba identity and respect for the Tinubu family never prevented him from supporting Peter Obi in the past.
“I am a Yoruba man. I love Tinubu with all my heart, and I love Seyi Tinubu. He is a good guy,” he stated.
He concluded by insisting that he remains free to back any candidate of his choice in future elections.
“If I like, I will start campaigning for Tinubu because you guys are not even worth it,” Fayose added.
