A 37-year-old Nigerian woman who was missing for over 48 hours after arriving in Doha, Qatar, has been found and is now getting medical care at a hospital.
Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, first raised the alarm on X on Thursday, explaining that his sister had boarded Qatar Airways flight QR 1408 from Lagos International Airport to Doha on Tuesday.
He disclosed that their last conversation was while she was still on the plane, using the in-flight WiFi.
He explained that the person who was supposed to pick her up at the airport was waiting, but did not see her after the flight landed safely.
He also said that airline staff told him she had collected her luggage.
Jibo said the situation was confusing since his sister was familiar with airports, having worked at Lagos Airport for nearly 12 years.
He explained that this was her first time traveling abroad and she did not know anyone in Qatar. She had already paid for her accommodation and other arrangements months before the trip and was supposed to start work in Doha a few weeks after arriving.
He said a family friend helped arrange the trip.
“I told the Agent to file a report with the Authorities. We have been communicating well so we can check the CCTV footage of her ‘last seen’ and find out who was with her last to help us get a lead,” Jibo wrote.
He also asked Nigerians to retweet his post to help find her.
... was widely shared on X and caught the attention of Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
Achimugu, along with the Nigerian Embassy in Doha, Qatar Airways, and other stakeholders, worked together to locate her.
On Sunday, Jibo shared an update saying his sister had been found.
“Good news. My sister has been found today; she was sick and was taken to the hospital from the airport,” he said.
