Police operatives have began manhunt for a 30-year-old man, Sunday Ejor, who allegedly killed his 26-year lover, Lucy Moshe Igu and dumped her corpse inside a bush and fled in Cross River State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in Ekajuk community, Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State on 29th March, 2026.

The shocking incident has caused serious confusion within the community, as residents struggled to come to terms with the gruesome nature of the crime.

The suspect, who was said to have been living in Lagos, fled after being linked to another alleged murder case. He later returned to his hometown and began cohabiting with the victim, a native of Abrumbede in Ekajuk.

However, trouble was said to have started when Ejor accused Lucy of infidelity, leading to frequent disputes between them. On the day of the sad incident, a heated argument allegedly escalated into violence, during which the suspect was said to have attacked the victim with a machete.

The victim sustained multiple fatal injuries from the attack and the suspect, Ejor, allegedly dragged her body into a nearby bush in an attempt to conceal the crime before fleeing the area.

This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, who stated that efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the suspect who is on the run.

“We are working with relevant security networks across the state and beyond to apprehend the suspect. Anyone with useful information should report to the nearest police station,” she said.

The family of the deceased was still in shock and described Lucy as peaceful and hardworking, lamenting her tragic death and calling on authorities to ensure justice is served.

The Chairman of the Ekajuk Community Development Association urged security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the suspect, warning that such incidents threaten the peace and safety of residents.

The lifeless body of the deceased was later recovered from the bush after residents discovered blood trails and raised the alarm. It has since been deposited at the General Hospital, Ogoja, pending autopsy as Police intensify investigation on the alleged dastardly crime.
