Osun Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to explain the alleged presence of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ebonyi State, Mrs Pauline Ugoyenka, in Osun ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke’s demand was contained in a statement issued by the Imole Campaign Council and signed by the Chairman of its Media and Publicity Committee, Hon. Bamidele Salam.
The campaign council also raised concerns over alleged use of ballot papers and result sheets that were not customised for the Osun governorship election.

Salam alleged that Ugoyenka was not among the RECs listed by INEC to participate in the supervision of the Osun election.
According to him, the Ebonyi REC was allegedly staying at Tees Continental Hotel on Laro Timileyin Street, Ayekale, Osogbo.
He also alleged that she had previously stayed at Aenon Suites, where he claimed individuals suspected by the campaign council of involvement in attempts to manipulate the election were also lodged.
However, the allegations could not be independently verified.
Salam said a letter issued by INEC on August 3, 2026, to RECs from 15 contributing states listed the states providing supervision contingents for the Osun election, adding that Ebonyi was not among them.
The campaign council consequently demanded that INEC clarify Ugoyenka’s role and authority in Osun.
“So, who authorised Mrs Pauline Ugoyenka’s presence in Osun, and what exactly is she doing here?” the statement asked.
“This is an election, not a covert operation. INEC must immediately explain her role, authority and activities in Osun and publish the full list of all officials deployed for the election.”
The council further urged the INEC leadership to investigate the matter and, if the allegations were established, direct the Ebonyi REC to leave the state.
It also demanded clarification over reports concerning the alleged use of electoral materials that were not specifically customised for the Osun governorship election.
The council insisted that only ballot papers and result sheets properly produced, customised and verified for the election should be used.
“Accord will not accept any arrangement capable of compromising the integrity, transparency or credibility of the August 15 election,” the statement said.
The campaign council said any failure by INEC to address the concerns could raise questions about the credibility of the electoral process, stressing that it would continue to demand transparency ahead of the poll.
