A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to encourage people to prioritize their health by getting tested before becoming intimate with a new partner.
In a video shared on her TikTok page, she recounted her experience with a man she met in Abuja, saying she decided to share her story to create awareness and encourage others to take precautionary steps in relationships.

According to the woman, she met the man in Abuja and was impressed by his personality and lifestyle.
As their relationship became more serious, she decided that before officially becoming his girlfriend, they should both undergo HIV testing.
She explained that she believed it was an important step before taking the relationship further.
The woman revealed that they both visited a hospital for the test.
According to her, her result came back negative, while the man’s result was positive.
She said she initially tried to comfort him, believing there was a possibility that the result could have been an error. She added that they later visited another hospital for a second test, where the result again reportedly came back positive.
Reflecting on the experience, she said the situation reinforced the importance of getting tested before becoming sexually active with a partner.
The woman also disclosed that she and the man had not had sex before the test.
According to her, one reason they had not become intimate was because she was on her menstrual period at the time.
She described that circumstance as something that ultimately protected her until both of them underwent testing.
During the video, she urged others to be cautious and prioritize their health, saying:
