Property, the value of which is yet to be ascertained, was destroyed in a residential building gutted by fire on Thursday in Ibadan.
The Chairman of Oyo Fire Services Agency, Mr Moroof Akinwande, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Ibadan.
Akinwande said that fortunately no casualties were recorded in the incident that occured at No. 16, Zone 5, Agoro Aroko Area, Breweries in Alakia area of Ibadan.

He said that a distress call about the fire outbreak was received by the agency, and firefighters promptly mobilised to the scene.
“On arrival, they met a private residential building of eight rooms engulfed in flames, with thick smoke.
“The fire crew immediately commenced firefighting operations and within short period, the fire was completely extinguished,” he said.
Akinwande attributed the cause of the fire to cooking gas that was left unattended.
He advised residents of the state to promptly contact firefighters whenever there was a fire emergency to ensure swift response.
The chairman further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and fire-conscious at all times and emphasised the importance of installing functional fire extinguishers in every household.
