The International Federation of Women Lawyers, Nigeria, FIDA Kaduna State Branch, has called for collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, to strengthen sensitization against drug abuse and to address gender-based and domestic violence in communities.
The Chairperson of FIDA Kaduna, Barr. Olufunke Bamikole, Esq., led an entourage on a courtesy visit to the NDLEA Kaduna State Command Headquarters on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
Speaking during the visit, Barr. Bamikole said the visit was to introduce the association and to seek partnership for a better society.
“We are here to introduce ourselves and to seek for partnership and collaborations, especially in the areas of sensitization for a better life for the society. We are women for fairness and justice,” she stated.
She added that FIDA conducts paralegal trainings for traditional rulers, religious leaders, and women leaders to equip them to respond to cases of gender-based violence and domestic violence.
In his response, the State Commander, NDLEA Kaduna State Command, CN Maijama’a Muhammad, welcomed FIDA and its delegation.
“We are always ready to collaborate especially with NGOs because it makes our work easier and cheaper,” he said.
The Commander emphasized that drug abuse remains a major contributor to national instability. “So with that we need a coordinated approach to tackle the menace of drug abuse and illicit trafficking,” he added.
Highlights of the visit included the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph.
