THE Federal Government will today, August 24, flag off the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, in a major move aimed at improving connectivity, easing transportation and stimulating economic activities between Oyo and Ogun states.
The flag-off ceremony, organised by the Federal Ministry of Works, is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Open Field of Legacy Estate, along the Idi Ayunre axis of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, Oyo State.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) had recently approved the award of the contract for the dualisation of the strategic road to JRB Construction Limited.
The Ibadan-Ijebu Ode corridor is a major route linking communities in Oyo and Ogun states, while also serving as an important channel for the movement of people, agricultural produce, goods and services within the South-West.
The dualisation of the road is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve road safety and reduce travel time, while opening up greater economic opportunities for communities located along the corridor.
The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, is expected to attend the ceremony alongside other senior government officials and stakeholders, including traditional rulers.
The event is also expected to attract traditional rulers, community leaders, residents and other stakeholders, marking the commencement of another major Federal Government road project in the South-West.
The project is expected to further strengthen road connectivity between Ibadan and Ijebu Ode and enhance the movement of goods and services across the region.
