Amobi Ezeaku, the General Manager of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu has hailed Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State for his support to the team in the last three years.
Ezeaku said this in at a news conference on Thursday in Enugu.
He said that the governor’s support to Rangers had helped the team to win two NPFL trophies in three years.
“He gave us the political will; he gave us administrative backing; and perhaps to dream beyond survival as a club.
“Every step that we have taken is under the benevolence and support of the Enugu State Government.
“On behalf of the players, management, coaches, staff members and millions of Rangers supporters both at home and abroad, I say thank you to the governor, ” Ezeaku said.
He said that Rangers was a work in progress, adding that the vision is to grow Rangers beyond a football club to a sports club.
According to him, apart from the male team, Rangers’ women team is ready to participate in the 2026 Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL).
The GM also said that the club had youth teams as well as academies across different venues in parts of the state.
He said that Rangers’ next round match against MC Alger of Algeria in the CAF Champions League, would be taken seriously as the team cannot afford a slip.
He said that the team had been fully charged to qualify for the money-spinning group stage of the CAF champions league.
According to him, the players are prepared to take their chances both in the first leg in Abeokuta on Oct. 18 and the return leg in Algiers a week later.
“We know the antics of the North African club sides, but we will also device our means to check-mate them, ” he said.
Ezeaku commended football fans in Abeokuta, the adopted home of Rangers, for their support for the team. (NAN)(NAN)
