The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned alleged attacks on its members and destruction of party offices and those of its support groups in the state.
In a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Wednesday by its Public Relations Officer, Sani Dan-Azare, the party alleged that vehicles were vandalised during the attacks within its premises.
Dan Azare also alleged that thugs assaulted and intimidated APC members and supporters in other parts of the state.
He called on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to promptly and impartially investigate the reported incidents.
The APC spokesman said the investigation should establish the circumstances surrounding the incidents and ensure that anyone found responsible was dealt with in accordance with the law and based on credible evidence.
He said various claims and allegations had emerged in connection with the incidents, urging security agencies to independently examine every credible lead and relevant evidence.
According to him, Kaduna State had made significant progress in moving beyond the political, ethnic and religious tensions that previously undermined its stability.
“These hard-earned gains must not be endangered by violence, intimidation, vandalism or any other unlawful conduct,” he said.
Dan Azare reiterated the commitment of the Kaduna APC to peaceful, lawful and issue-based political engagement.
He called on all political parties, candidates and supporters to conduct their activities responsibly and within the law.
The spokesman also urged APC members and support groups across the state to remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from retaliation or self-help.
He advised anyone with relevant information or evidence concerning the incidents to make such materials available to the appropriate security agencies.
“No political contest is greater than the peace and security of Kaduna State.
“Let the facts be established. Let due process prevail. Let the law take its course,” Dan Azare said.(NAN)
