Ekiti governor Oyebanji proceeds on two-week annual leave

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, will commence a two-week annual leave on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The state government announced that the governor’s temporary break is part of his statutory entitlement.

In a statement issued on Friday, August 21, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, said Oyebanji would be away from his official duties until Monday, September 7, 2026.

However, the governor is not expected to be completely disconnected from the affairs of the state.

According to the statement, Oyebanji will continue to monitor developments in Ekiti and attend to critical government matters requiring his attention during the period of his leave.

The state government also assured residents that government activities would continue uninterrupted while the governor is away.

The upcoming break will be the second time Oyebanji has proceeded on annual leave since assuming office as Ekiti State governor on October 16, 2022.

Meanwhile, political conversations in the state have continued to generate attention ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, recently revisited the controversial 2018 governorship election, claiming that the state was taken from him by the Federal Government.

Fayose made the remark during an appearance on TVC News while reacting to comments by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, regarding his political relationship with President Bola Tinubu.
