Senator David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), called on people in Osun State, especially party supporters, to protect their votes and stand against any efforts to tamper with the election.
Mark made this statement on Monday in Osogbo, the state capital, as he handed the party’s flag to its governorship candidate, Najeem Salaam, ahead of Saturday’s election.
His message was shared in a statement signed by his media adviser, Kola Ologbondiyan.
Mark urged party supporters to stay alert and make sure their votes count, warning them not to let anyone undermine the will of the voters.
“You must not let anyone rig you out of this election. You have already shown your ability, strength, and determination to win.
“So, be ready to defend your votes. Don’t let anyone take them away from you,” Mark said.
He encouraged ADC members to stay committed, organised, and determined as the party steps up its efforts before the election.
Mark made his call while political parties were stepping up their campaigns and mobilising supporters across Osun State before the closely contested governorship election.
At the event, ADC presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar said the party had brought together some of the country’s top political leaders and professionals to offer Nigerians an alternative platform.
Atiku said the ADC has the ability, experience, and vision to transform the country and improve Nigerians’ welfare if given the chance to govern.
He encouraged Nigerians to support the party, saying its rise was a chance to set a new direction for the country.
