UNIOSUN hospital records first childbirth

The Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital (MOFAMRTH), Osun State University (UNIOSUN), has recorded its first childbirth since the commencement of operations.

This is contained in a statement issued by the university’s spokesperson, Mr Ademola Adesoji, on Friday in Osogbo.

The Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Mrs Folorunso Alakija, had recently donated the 250-bed ultra modern fully equipped hospital to the university.

Adesoji said the milestone was recorded on Nov. 5, with the baby’s mother, Mrs Ayelabola Abigail, receiving gifts during the visit of the wife of the governor, Mrs Ngozi Adeleke to the facility.

He said that Mrs Adeleke was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, Innovation and Partnerships), Prof. Adetunji Kehinde, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye.

According to him, the wife of the governor appreciates Dr Folorunso Alakija for her contributions to the establishment and development of the hospital.

He said the governor’s wife toured various sections of the facility and received briefings on its operations, clinical services, medical research and professional training activities.

He noted that MOFAMRTH is a specialised medical facility established to integrate healthcare delivery with medical research and the training of healthcare professionals.

Adesoji said the hospital was expected to expand access to specialised medical services, strengthen research, and professional development in the health sector.
