Charterhouse Lagos’s founding head and Director of Education, John Todd, has been honoured with the traditional title of Aare Oluko of Ogombo Kingdom by the Oba of Ogombo, HRM Alaiyeluwa, Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo (Ogudu Oshadi of Ogombo Kingdom).
The ceremony, held over the weekend at the Oba of Ogombo’s Palace, brought together traditional rulers, representatives of the Lagos State Government, community leaders, members of the Charterhouse Lagos leadership team and other distinguished guests.
The title recognises Mr Todd’s contribution to education in Nigeria, as well as his pivotal role in the establishment and development of Charterhouse Lagos. As founding head, he has been instrumental in bringing the vision of a world-class British education to Nigeria while building a school that is firmly connected to its local community and Nigerian heritage.
Speaking after receiving the title, Mr Todd expressed his gratitude to the Oba and the people of Ogombo, describing the honour as both humbling and deeply appreciated.
The occasion reflects Charterhouse Lagos’s commitment not only to delivering exceptional British education, but also to embracing Nigerian culture, building meaningful relationships within its community and contributing positively to Nigerian society.
