The Nigerian Senate has approved the appointments of Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The approvals came a day after President Bola Tinubu transmitted the nominees’ names to the Senate for confirmation.
The request was contained in a letter addressed to the Senate and read on the floor during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Both nominees underwent screening in line with constitutional requirements before their confirmation.
Tegbe’s nomination followed the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu as Minister of Power, who stepped down to contest for elective office.
Enikanolaiye’s appointment comes after Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu was reassigned as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Odumegwu-Ojukwu had previously held the position of Minister of State in the ministry.
Prior to his nomination, Ambassador Enikanolaiye, a native of Kogi State, served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
