Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a late-night tactical operation on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
The victims, who include the younger sister of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, were freed unharmed around 7:30 p.m. during a fierce gun duel with suspected kidnappers in Oyo State, police sources confirmed.
Mrs. John-Paul and her twins were abducted around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2026, while on their way to drop the children at school.
Following the abduction, sustained intelligence tracking and mounting operational pressure by security forces eventually forced the kidnappers into a direct confrontation with operatives.
During the exchange of fire, two suspected kidnappers were neutralized at the scene, and two firearms were recovered from the criminal gang.
A search operation is underway for members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped the scene, as authorities believe some sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter.
“The victims were rescued alive and are currently receiving medical evaluation,” a senior security officer disclosed. “Our operatives are combing nearby areas for fleeing members of the syndicate, some of whom are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.”
On Friday, Governor Seyi Makinde paid a condolence visit to Chief Adebayo Adelabu following the abduction and pledged continued efforts to ensure the victims’ release.
The kidnapping took place some weeks after more than 40 students and teachers were abducted in Orire Local Government Area of the state.
