Popular boxer Prichard Colón has died at the age of 33 after spending more than a decade living with the devastating effects of a brain injury sustained during a professional fight.

Colón passed away on Thursday, 11 years after the injury left him with severe neurological complications and ultimately paralysed.
His death was announced by his father and former coach, Richard Colón, who shared the heartbreaking news in a Facebook post on Thursday.
In the emotional message, Richard revealed that he had done everything he could to support his son and fulfil one of his wishes before his death.
He wrote:
“Good morning my people. I regret to inform you of the passing of my son Prichard from this earthly world, now he is in a better world.
“I did everything possible to fulfil his wish, his dream of bringing him on vacation to Puerto Rico as much as he desired but couldn’t.
“Thank you for so many years of love and prayers. As much as you can, please keep us in your prayers,”
Colón’s life changed dramatically after he suffered a serious brain injury during a boxing bout in 2015.
