While interacting with leaders of the Hindu community on the occasion of Janmasthami celebrated last week, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made a large but mostly hollow claim: “You are people of this country, you have equal rights here, you have the same rights as I have.” Yet the Hasina regime has been marked by the increased activity of Muslims who are upholding the supremacy of Sharia in the Islamic republic.
Bangladesh today is a financially drained South Asian country, infested with Islamic indoctrination and bigotry inherited from its parent country, Pakistan. Hindu temples are turned into rubble almost every other day, and Hindu women are routinely harassed, raped, and converted. Government and police officials, as well as medical professionals, wash their hands of their core responsibility to provide protection and treatment to the victimized Hindus.
A young Hindu girl, a student of Rajshahi Govt. Women’s College, and her family became the latest victims of Islamic elements last week. The girl, preparing for the final exams, explained at a press conference how the Islamic society and its administration have wronged her family. She recounted that a couple of Muslim men started teasing her when she was on her way from tuition classes on Friday, August 12. These men were also extorting money from her family to allow them to keep their beauty parlor business running.
When she informed her father of the harassment she had encountered on the street, the father went out to confront these men. During this confrontation, the miscreants asserted that the Hindu family should keep giving them money to keep their business running. If they failed, the Muslim youth would forcibly marry his daughter. As the altercation heated up, more Muslims gathered around. One of the miscreants, Prince, stabbed the Hindu man with a knife; others hit him on the head with a hammer. Others pinned him down and continued to kick and punch him. The violence occurred at the platform of a railway station his daughter identified as University Station.
Soon the wife of the Hindu man reached the spot and attempted to rescue him; she, too, was assaulted by these Muslims. One of them tore her blouse. The goons then robbed the couple of their jewelry and cash and fled the spot. The man, profusely bleeding, dragged himself to the nearby police station. But the police officials refused to take the complaint, stating that the case fell under the jurisdiction of a different police station. The couple tried to register their complaint with several police stations in the area, but were turned down by every official they met.
Apart from police officials, doctors were also indifferent to his plight. He was initially admitted to a local hospital, but the doctors drove him out of the hospital, even though he had not fully recovered. He insisted that he was not feeling well, but the doctor suggested he continue his treatment elsewhere.
The family, harassed by a gang of Islamic goons, found no assistance from the government establishments, either. They are left with two young daughters who are under the radar of men waiting to trap them, a business that these miscreants are exploiting financially, and a physically tormented guardian who has been denied essential medical assistance.
This is not an isolated incident of the targeting of Hindu women; this has become a trend in modern Bangladesh. The victim, in this case, was lucky that she didn’t end up abducted, converted to Islam, and married to an older Muslim man, unlike numerous Hindu girls, mostly minors, who have gone missing in the past couple of years. Back in July, Anuradha Sen, a student of Bankura High School, was kidnapped by a miscreant who later signed in to her Facebook account to declare that he had killed her and the family didn’t need to search for her anymore. The brother of the girl had identified one Bari Mehdi as the suspect.
Last year, local Muslims abducted 15-year-old Antara (Nadi) Rani Das and forcibly converted her to Islam in the Patuakhali district of Bangladesh. 19-year-old Toma Deb shares a similar story. She was abducted and forcibly converted to Islam by one Mohammed Alal Mis. 20-year-old Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury killed 14-year-old Nila Roy after she turned down his advances multiple times. Another 14-year-old named Lakingme Chakma was abducted from her home, converted to Islam, and forcibly married to one Mohammed Attaullah, who later murdered her. The police recovered her body and called in the father to identify it, but refused to hand over the body to the family. They explained in their own defense that even though deceased, the girl was now a Muslim and therefore her body couldn’t be given to her kafir family.
Hindu girls in Bangladesh must live under the constant threat of being harassed, abducted, raped, and forcibly married, if not murdered under Sheikh Hasina’s governance, while she collects brownie points from the international liberal lobby for her misleading sweet talks.
