Airport CCTV: ‘Aviation ministry has become ministry of Peter Obi affairs’ — Obidient Movement

The Obidient Movement has launched a fresh attack on the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, dismissing the CCTV footage he released over the recent airport parking controversy involving Peter Obi as “poorly edited propaganda.”

The group argued that rather than proving the minister’s allegations against the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, the video undermined his claims and exposed what it described as the ruling All Progressives Congress’ (APC) “obsession” with the former Anambra State governor.

In a statement issued by its Media and Communications Directorate and signed by Yunusa Tanko, the movement said the timestamps in the footage directly contradicted Keyamo’s assertion that Obi’s vehicle remained unattended for 30 minutes.

According to the Obidient Movement, the CCTV footage showed Peter Obi’s vehicle arriving at the airport at about 8:28 p.m., with enforcement officials clamping it roughly six minutes later.

The group maintained that this timeline was inconsistent with the minister’s earlier claim that the vehicle had been abandoned for half an hour.

It also argued that the footage failed to support allegations that Obi’s vehicle obstructed access to the airport terminal.

According to the movement, another vehicle was seen driving in and stopping behind Obi’s car without encountering any obstruction, further weakening the minister’s narrative.

The group further claimed the footage corroborated Obi’s earlier position that several other vehicles were parked in the same area, alleging that only his vehicle was singled out for enforcement action.

‘Focus On Aviation, Not Peter Obi’

The Obidient Movement accused Keyamo of paying more attention to Peter Obi than to the numerous challenges confronting Nigeria’s aviation sector.

It cited persistent flight delays, expensive airfares, inadequate infrastructure and other operational issues, arguing that these should be the minister’s priority instead of engaging in political disputes.

In a swipe at the Aviation Minister, the group claimed the ministry had effectively become the “Ministry of Peter Obi Affairs,” alleging that the continued focus on the opposition figure was politically motivated.

According to the movement, the APC sees Obi as a credible political threat to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, hence the repeated attempts to discredit him.

The group concluded by insisting that no amount of propaganda, intimidation or selective enforcement would divert Nigerians’ attention from the country’s pressing challenges, including insecurity, inflation, rising hunger and worsening economic hardship.

Reaffirming its support for Peter Obi, the Obidient Movement said it remained committed to its vision of building what it described as a “New Nigeria.”
