Former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Dr Abdulrasheed Maina, slumped on Tuesday evening while attempting to access his office premises in Abuja and was rushed to a private hospital for urgent medical attention.
According to a statement issued by his media assistant, Emmanuel Umahi Ekwe, the incident occurred as a result of complications from an untreated knee injury, which caused Maina to lose balance while climbing a staircase and fall, hitting his head in the process.
Medical personnel at the scene reportedly administered first aid before he was immediately conveyed to a private medical facility in the Federal Capital Territory, where he is currently under close medical observation.
The statement added that preliminary medical assessments by attending doctors indicate that an air ambulance evacuation may be considered if his condition does not stabilise within a short period.
Maina’s family has appealed to the public for prayers, understanding, and respect for their privacy, assuring that further updates will be provided as developments unfold.
