2027: Arewa youth leader plans Northern mobilisation for Tinubu

By Nahum Sule, Jalingo

The President of the Arewa Youths Assembly for Good Leadership, Alhaji Danbature Abdul-Hamid, has unveiled plans to mobilise youths and grassroots stakeholders across Northern Nigeria to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Danbature, who is also a member of the Presidential Campaign Council, said the mobilisation would focus on the North-East and other parts of the region through community engagement, public enlightenment and advocacy for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the campaign would go beyond political rallies and social media activities to establish direct contact with communities and explain government policies to ordinary Nigerians.

In an interview with our correspondent, the AYAGL president argued that Tinubu deserved another term, citing what he described as progress in education, infrastructure, security, agriculture and economic reforms.

He listed the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, ongoing highway projects, increased funding for security agencies and agricultural interventions among the initiatives he said had demonstrated the administration’s commitment to national development.

According to him, continuity would enable the government to consolidate its policies and address challenges that remain unresolved.

“President Tinubu has demonstrated a commitment to addressing some of the country’s longstanding challenges. From education financing to infrastructure development and economic reforms, there are initiatives that deserve public attention and proper assessment,” he said.

He added, “We believe continuity will provide an opportunity to consolidate these policies and address areas where Nigerians are still expecting better results.”

Danbature, however, acknowledged that government policies must translate into tangible improvements in the living conditions of Nigerians, stressing that public support should be built on effective governance.

Explaining his mobilisation strategy, he said the group would prioritise grassroots engagement and feedback rather than rely solely on political campaigns.

“Our responsibility is not just to campaign. It is to build trust, explain government policies in a language ordinary people understand and ensure that the concerns of people at the grassroots are communicated to those in authority,” he stated.

The youth leader also commended Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, for what he described as his alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the education sector.

He cited the state’s free education policy at primary and secondary school levels, as well as the reported 50 per cent reduction in tuition fees in tertiary institutions.

Danbature described the measures as significant interventions towards expanding access to education and reducing the financial burden on families.

He said investment in education remained essential to tackling poverty, youth unemployment and inequality, adding that cooperation between federal and state governments could improve service delivery.

The AYAGL president urged youths across Northern Nigeria to reject divisive politics and participate actively in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said voters should assess the performance of governments, scrutinise competing political positions and make informed choices based on issues affecting their communities.

Danbature reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising support for Tinubu, insisting that political participation should ultimately produce better governance and improved living conditions for Nigerians.
