Doris Ogala, the Abia state governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) has been hospitalised after she reportedly collapsed during a political consultation in the state.
Ogala, an actress-turned-politician, confirmed the incident in a social media post, stating that she lost consciousness and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, for urgent treatment.
She, however, reassured supporters that she had stabilised following medical attention.
“I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God, I am stabilised now,” she wrote.
A video circulating online showed the AAC candidate seated in a wheelchair as she was attended to by medical personnel after being stabilised. She was later seen interacting briefly with patients and staff at the hospital, where she also offered prayers for their recovery.
The incident has raised concern among her supporters as political activities intensify ahead of the next governorship election in Abia State.
As of press time, there was no official update confirming the cause of her collapse or whether she has been discharged from the hospital.
Ogala recently emerged as the AAC governorship candidate and is expected to contest alongside candidates from the APC, PDP, Labour Party, and other political parties.
