36 Students Confirmed Abducted as Details Emerge from Terrorist Attack on Borno School

More details have emerged following a deadly raid by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province insurgents at Government Day Secondary School Lassa in the Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

A list obtained from school registers reveals that the abductees consist of eleven male and twenty-five female students.

Eighteen are from Senior Secondary One, seventeen are from Senior Secondary Two, and one is a Senior Secondary Three student.

The heavily armed militants struck the school around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, shooting dead a teacher who refused to follow them, while another person sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The targeted village of Lassa is located just twenty kilometers from the Mussa community, where forty-two pupils were similarly kidnapped from their school on May 15.

The document containing the identities of the missing teenagers was compiled through a joint effort between the administrative staff of the institution and the distressed families, according to Hon Jagila Jabula, the councillor representing Lassa Ward.

“The list of students abducted during the invasion of Government Day Secondary School Lassa, Askira Uba LGA of Borno State, has been obtained,” Jabula stated in a public update regarding the crisis.
