The Sokoto State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has adopted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The announcement was made on Sunday in Sokoto by ADC chieftain Alhaji Muktar Magori during a press conference attended by party stakeholders and leaders.
Magori, a former chief of staff to ex-Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, said the decision followed consultations among ADC loyalists and stakeholders across the state ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.
According to him, the endorsement is part of preparations for the 2027 presidential race and reflects the party’s commitment to building support for Atiku’s candidacy in Sokoto State.
The briefing was attended by prominent ADC figures, including former Commissioner for Information Alhaji Dahiru Maishanu, former Head of Service Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad, and the party’s state chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu.
