Woman Arrested for Murdering Her Husband After Discovering He Was Planning to Marry a Second Wife

Police in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State have arrested a woman identified as Bilkisu Sani following the death of her husband, Hafisu Gausu, amid reported disagreements over his plans to marry another woman.

The incident reportedly occurred around 7pm on Friday, September 18, 2026, in the Katsalle area of Rogo town.

According to Daily Trust, a resident identified as Auwal Kazagi Rogo said residents rushed to the area after hearing cries from Bilkisu, who reportedly claimed that her husband had been kidnapped and killed.

Kazagi said residents who arrived at the scene found Gausu with an injury to his head.

He said:

“On reaching there, we saw that he was not slaughtered but hit on the head with an object. He fell and d!ed. There was even a sign of bite on his ear,” Kazagi said.

Police were subsequently contacted and the man’s body was taken away as investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death began.

According to the resident, Gausu had reportedly become involved with another woman and was planning to marry her as his second wife.

His reported plans had led to disagreements between him and Bilkisu, with elders previously intervening in an attempt to settle the matter.

Kazagi said tensions between the couple continued despite the intervention.

Bilkisu was subsequently arrested by the police as a suspect in connection with her husband’s death, while investigations remain ongoing.

Gausu was buried on Saturday morning in Rogo according to Islamic rites.

The couple had reportedly been married for nearly seven years and had two children. Bilkisu is also said to be pregnant with the deceased man’s child.

Sources in the area further claimed that Gausu had asked his fiancée’s family to move the planned wedding date forward by two months because of the disagreement with his wife.
