Wizkid makes history as first African artiste with four U.S. certifications

Nigerian superstar singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun better known as Wizkid, has achieved a historic feat in the United States.

The artiste has set record by becoming the first African artiste to bag four different music certifications in the US.

Research firm, Africa Facts Zone broke the news on Twitter as it listed the tracks that earned him the new speak status.

According to AFZ, Wizkid’s song with Tems, Essence; Come closer featuring Drake, Beyonce’s Brown Skin Girl and Drake’s One Dance Come Closer are the tracks that made the international record possible.

It also reported that the Starboy Entertainment CEO holds a similar title in the UK where he 10 music certifications under his belt.

Speaking of music accomplishments, Nigerian sonorous singer, Tems is steady making charts and hitting new milestones.

This year has clearly been the best for the ‘Try Me’ crooner as she can now brag about being one of the only two Nigerian aryistes to have the most charting songs on Billboard Hot 100.

The other artiste who had broken the record was Wizkid, so Tems’ new music milestone means that she has equalled Wizkid’s record. She was able to attain the feat thanks to the entry of Beyonce’s Move unto the Billboard charts.

Tems was featured on the song, and it happens to be the third track makes which the Nigerians songstress is credited on to hit the popular charts.

Other songs on which Tems is featured that have hit this mark include Wizkid’s Essence as well as Future’s Wait 4 U.
