“Why you no get brain?” — Fayose blasts Reno Omokri over UK and Nigeria petrol prices

A fresh wave of debate has erupted online after social commentator Isaac Fayose publicly criticised former presidential aide Reno Omokri over his recent remarks comparing petrol prices in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Fayose, in a viral video circulating across social media platforms, faulted Omokri’s argument that Nigerians still pay less for petrol compared to residents in the UK.

He argued that the comparison ignored the major difference between both countries’ minimum wages and living standards.

Fayose Questions Nigeria-UK Fuel Price Comparison

Reacting strongly, Fayose said Nigerians earning the newly approved ₦70,000 minimum wage cannot comfortably afford petrol at about ₦1,400 per litre.

According to him, a worker earning ₦70,000 monthly would only be able to purchase a limited quantity of fuel after excluding feeding, accommodation, transportation and other daily expenses.

He also compared the Nigerian wage structure with that of the UK, claiming that workers abroad earn significantly higher salaries, making fuel purchases less burdensome despite higher pump prices.

Fayose stated that comparing fuel prices without considering purchasing power was misleading and unfair to struggling Nigerians.

The businessman further accused Omokri of defending government policies to please political leaders following his recent ambassadorial appointment.

In the emotional video, Fayose repeatedly questioned why Nigerians should pay high fuel prices despite low wages and rising living costs.
