Why We Object The 18,000 Polling Results Tendered By Peter Obi – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has raised objections to the submission of 18,000 blurred polling results from the presidential election by the Labour Party before the court.

INEC’s lead counsel, Abubakar Mahmoud, argued that the documents were an ambush and objected to their admissibility. He expressed frustration over receiving a copy of the witness’s statement only a few hours before the court proceedings began, which he believed did not comply with the spirit of cooperation and the rules of the court.

Mahmoud stated that he and his team felt handicapped and unsure of how to proceed due to the late submission of the documents. He emphasized that the witness statement should have been served in a timely manner to avoid such a situation.

The objections by INEC regarding the 18,000 polling results highlight concerns about the admissibility and fairness of the evidence presented by the Labour Party in the ongoing court proceedings related to the presidential election.
