A Nigerian lady has lamented the country’s poor electricity supply, saying the persistent power crisis has affected her work and made it difficult for her to earn a living.
The lady made this known in an emotional video currently trending on X (formerly Twitter), where she expressed frustration over the challenges she faces because of unreliable electricity.
According to her, issues that should be basic and easily resolved have become major problems in Nigeria.
“I’m not even somebody that makes videos or anything when things happen to me, but God, I hate Nigeria. I hate Nigeria. I hate Nigeria with the whole of my being, with every single thing in me,” she said.
She questioned why electricity remained difficult to access, noting that poor power supply had affected people’s jobs and opportunities.

“The little things that should not be a problem is a big issue in this country. Little things that should not even go far. Why is electricity still hard to get, in 2026, in big 2026?
“Do you know how many people have missed job interviews? Do you know how many people have missed foreign gigs because of electricity?” she asked.
The lady recalled that when she used to write for foreign clients in the United States, she would sometimes visit a friend’s house to charge her laptop so she could work and meet deadlines.
“I remember when I used to write, I used to get foreign clients in the US, I would literally go to a friend’s house to go and charge my laptop so that I’ll be able to write and submit and meet deadlines,” she cried.
She also narrated how the electricity situation recently disrupted her participation in a beauty contest.
According to her, she was contesting for Face of Beauty by AD and had started filming a makeup video when the light from her equipment went off.
She said the equipment could not be charged because there was no electricity, adding that she had to spend money on fuel despite being “literally basically almost unemployed.”
“I started shooting yesterday, I was halfway done. I was doing my base, I’ve done my eyebrow, my light went off. There’s no electricity to power it,” she said.
She further complained that the electricity supplied in her area was often too weak to power essential appliances.
“Even when they bring it, it is so low, it can’t power anything. The only thing it can try to power is LED light, and it’ll be so, so, so, so low,” she said.
The lady said the unreliable power supply had also affected her ability to create makeup and fashion content, particularly because of the heat.
“God… Electricity is a big problem. It’s like when you talk about electricity, you’re talking about something that is in a foreign land.
“Something as basic and common as electricity. Every single time, I don’t create as much. I don’t create as much makeup videos or even fashion videos, ’cause why would you be creating and be sweating like a goat?
“When I tell you I hate Nigeria, I hate this country with every, every, every, every ounce of my being,” she said.
Expressing further frustration, she said the situation was affecting her mentally and professionally.
“And there’s something desperately wrong with this nation. Something desperately wrong with this… I am frustrated. I am tired”, she added.
She added that being forced to deal with basic challenges such as electricity was physically and mentally draining, saying it was affecting her capacity and the life she wanted for herself.
She continued in tears, “I’m a go-getter. Everybody that knows me knows that I’m a go-getter, but this country is sucking the life out of me. And just thinking that I have to be here, I have to do something here is physically and mentally draining me.
“This place is fucking with my mental health. It is fucking with my capacity. It is fucking with the life that I know I want for myself. I just hate this country.”
