Uche Montana’s Monica 2 hits 4.3 million YouTube views within 24 hours

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Uche Montana has recorded another major digital milestone as her latest release, Monica 2, amassed over 4.3 million views on YouTube within 24 hours of its premiere.g

According to analytics reviewed by Nairametrics, the sequel generated approximately 4,403,874 views within its first 15 hours after debuting on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

The rapid traction surpasses the early performance of its predecessor and reinforces Montana’s growing influence in Nollywood’s digital distribution space.

The producer had earlier celebrated hitting 1.3 million views just four hours after release, signaling strong initial audience demand and viral momentum for the film. The latest figures indicate sustained engagement well beyond the opening hours, positioning Monica 2 as one of the fastest-growing Nollywood titles on YouTube in recent times.

The milestone builds on the success of the first installment, Monica, which, as previously reported by Nairametrics, crossed 13 million views within two weeks of its March 7, 2026 premiere on her YouTube channel.

Early data at the time showed the movie averaging nearly one million views daily, highlights a consistent and expanding digital audience base for Montana’s productions.

Montana’s success highlights a broader shift within Nollywood, where filmmakers are increasingly leveraging YouTube and other digital platforms to distribute content directly to audiences. This model bypasses traditional cinema and television gatekeepers, enabling faster reach, global accessibility, and real-time performance tracking.

Montana began her acting career in 2015 with a debut in Poison Ivy. She gained wider recognition through the Africa Magic series Hush (2016–2017), which earned her the MAYA Awards Africa for Best Supporting Actress and marked her breakthrough in the industry.

Over the years, she has featured in several Nollywood productions, including Banana Island Ghost, The Eve, and Made in Heaven, building a reputation for versatility and emotional depth in her roles. In recent years, she has expanded into screenwriting and production, aligning with industry trends that see creatives take on multiple roles across filmmaking.

Her filmography between 2021 and 2025 reflects this evolution, with appearances in titles such as Dream Job, Women & Lies, and The Silent Intruder, alongside involvement in larger commercial projects like Thin Line and Behind The Scenes.
