TV-WEST, the bilingual English-Yoruba regional television network serving the Southwest and beyond, will commence full 24-hour broadcasting from October 1, 2026.
The development follows a successful test transmission by the station as it prepares to commence round-the-clock programming across its expanding broadcast and digital distribution platforms.
From October 1, viewers will be able to access TV-WEST throughout the day and night, with programmes delivered in both English and Yoruba.
The station’s programming will cover a wide range of areas, including news, current affairs, business, entertainment, culture, lifestyle, sports and development-focused content.
Head of Operations, Omolola Dorcas Adeoye, described the commencement of the 24-hour service as a significant milestone in the development of the channel.
Adeoye said the successful test transmission had paved the way for the station to officially begin round-the-clock broadcasting while offering viewers its distinctive bilingual programming.
“This is an important moment for TV-WEST. Following our successful test transmission, we are excited to officially commence 24-hour broadcasting and bring our distinctive bilingual English-Yoruba programming to viewers throughout the day and night,” she said.
She explained that the use of English and Yoruba was central to the station’s mission of connecting with audiences across the Southwest.
According to her, language remains an important part of how people understand their environment and connect with their communities.
She said the bilingual format would enable TV-WEST to reach a wider audience while promoting the visibility of Yoruba language and culture.
Adeoye added that the station was designed to go beyond conventional television broadcasting by providing content capable of informing, engaging and creating practical value for viewers.
“TV-WEST is more than a television channel. We are building a platform that tells our stories, gives people a voice, highlights opportunities and provides information that can make a practical difference in people’s lives,” she said.
TV-WEST is currently available on major platforms, including NIGCOMSAT, FreeTV Studio, Naija TV, YouTube, Twitch and other digital platforms.
Adeoye said the station was committed to ensuring that viewers could access its programmes through satellite, digital television, mobile devices and online platforms.
She said the October 1 commencement marked the beginning of a new chapter for TV-WEST, with the channel focused on credible journalism, meaningful conversations and practical solutions for audiences across the Southwest and beyond.
“We want TV-WEST to be a channel people can trust, a channel that understands its audience and a channel that consistently delivers content that is relevant, useful and engaging, in the languages our people understand and connect with,” Adeoye said.
