TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc fell by the maximum 10 percent on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Friday, shedding N57.60 per share to close at N518.40.
The company’s share price declined from N576 at the previous close to N518.40, making TotalEnergies Nigeria the leading decliner during Friday’s trading session.
The N57.60 decline was also substantially larger in absolute naira terms than the losses recorded by the other stocks among the five leading decliners.
Legend Internet followed with a 9.09 percent decline, falling from N3.85 to N3.50 after losing N0.35 per share.
Haldane McCall dropped 8.54 percent from N3.28 to N3, while Caverton Offshore Support Group declined 8.05 percent from N4.35 to N4.
First HoldCo completed the five leading decliners after losing N8.40 per share, falling 5.09 percent from N165 to N156.60.
TotalEnergies Nigeria’s decline came during a largely flat session for the broader equities market.
The NGX All-Share Index slipped 36.60 points, or approximately 0.015 percent, to 252,113.41 points, from 252,150.01 points on Thursday.
Equity market capitalisation declined by approximately N23.77 billion to N163.66 trillion, from N163.68 trillion in the previous session.
Despite the marginal decline in the benchmark index, the value of equities traded increased.
Investors exchanged 708.85 million shares worth N58.35 billion in 42,496 deals, compared with 978.29 million shares valued at N50.16 billion in 48,558 deals on Thursday.
This means trading value increased approximately 16.3 percent, even as volume declined about 27.5 percent and the number of transactions fell 12.5 percent.
On the gainers’ table, Zichis led with a 10 percent increase from N16 to N17.60.
Critical Minerals Financing Corporation gained 9.76 percent to N3.26, RT Briscoe advanced 9.74 percent to N10.70, ABC Transport rose 9.68 percent to N5.10 and Royal Exchange appreciated 9.09 percent to N1.08.
TotalEnergies Nigeria ended the session at N518.40 after losing N57.60 per share, representing the maximum 10 percent decline and the steepest percentage loss among Friday’s reported equities.
