President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Abel Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF).
Enitan was sworn in during a brief ceremony at the State House on Thursday, succeeding Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retired from the position after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.
TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports that Enitan, an indigene of Osun State, was the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service before his appointment.
He brings years of experience in public administration to the position, having spent seven years and seven months as a Permanent Secretary across several government institutions.
Before his appointment as the nation’s top civil servant, Enitan served in a number of key government offices and ministries, including the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the Vice President and the Federal Ministry of Education.
His appointment marks a new chapter in the leadership of the Federal Civil Service following the exit of Walson-Jack.

Meanwhile, the former Head of the Civil Service recently admitted that her office failed to conduct adequate due diligence before granting key approvals to the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Walson-Jack made the admission during an appearance before the House of Representatives hearing into the PFIPC controversy, acknowledging shortcomings in the process that led to the approvals granted to the now-disowned council.
With Enitan now formally sworn in, he takes over the leadership of the Federal Civil Service at a time when the institution remains central to the implementation of government policies and the management of Nigeria’s public administration.
