Akpabio predicts total victory for Tinubu in South-South

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has predicted a sweeping victory for President Bola Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the South-South geopolitical zone in the January 16, 2027 elections.

Akpabio made the prediction on Saturday at the Rivers State Rainbow Coalition rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, where he attributed the expected victory to the prevailing peace and unity among political leaders in the state.

He told Tinubu that Rivers State had provided the political ingredients needed to secure his re-election, declaring: “There is total peace in Rivers State, and it is based on that peace and unity among all stakeholders and political leaders that Mr President would be delivered.”

The Senate President recalled that Rivers was the only South-South state won by the APC in the 2023 presidential election, insisting that Tinubu secured a decisive victory there. He expressed confidence that the state would repeat the feat in 2027.

Akpabio also credited Tinubu’s relationship with Rivers State to the appointment of former Governor Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), praising his performance and describing him as an asset to the state.

“President Tinubu loves Rivers people, and that is why he handed a very strategic ministry, the FCT, to your son, and he has not disappointed us. We have never seen such a level of development before,” he said.

Highlighting the administration’s achievements, Akpabio cited the student loan scheme, tax reforms, increased foreign reserves and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as reasons Nigerians should support Tinubu’s re-election.

He claimed that more than 100,000 students from Rivers State had benefited from federal education financing initiatives, while foreign reserves had risen from $4.5 billion to over $50 billion.

He also defended the removal of fuel subsidy, saying it was aimed at eliminating corruption, and urged South-South residents to sustain their support for the administration.

“We will continue to campaign despite the fact that we are a very popular party and the government of the day,” Akpabio declared, expressing confidence that Tinubu and APC candidates would celebrate victory on January 16, 2027.
