According to the letter titled: ‘Transmission of National Postgraduate Medical College (amendment) bill, 2026 for passage into law’, Mr. President explained that the “purpose of the Bill is to, among other things, reflect the change of the institutional name, expand the mandate of the College to include the award of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree in Clinical Medicine, Dentistry and related fields.
According to him, Federal Ministry of Justice subsequently vetted and finalized the Bill in line with drafting standards and constitutional provisions.
“In consequence of the above, National Postgraduate Medical College (Amendment) Bill, 2026 is hereby forwarded to the House of Representatives for legislative action by the National Assembly.”
