President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of soldiers from the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI, following a coordinated terrorist attack on their camp in Benisheikh.
In a statement, the President extended condolences to the Nigerian military and the bereaved families, urging them to remain strong in the face of the loss. The Defence Headquarters Nigeria confirmed that the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026, resulting in multiple fatalities.
Tinubu commended the fallen soldiers for their bravery, noting that they fought gallantly to repel the attackers and prevent Boko Haram from overrunning nearby communities. He described the assault as a desperate counterattack amid ongoing military offensives targeting insurgent strongholds.
The President assured that the sacrifices of the soldiers, including those led by Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, would not be forgotten. He urged troops across all theatres of operation to remain resolute, emphasizing the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the armed forces with necessary equipment and improved welfare.
Tinubu also called on Nigerians and the media to back the military in its fight against insurgency and avoid glorifying attacks on security personnel. He extended his condolences to the government and people of Borno State, reaffirming the government’s determination to restore lasting peace and security.
