How much does 1 gram of sugar raise blood glucose?

As a general rule: 1 gram of sugar will raise blood glucose levels by 0.2 to 0.3 mmol/l.

Sugar is the main source of energy, and the body needs a lot of sugar to provide energy every day.

In general, eating sugar at a moderate amount it will not cause high blood sugar. The body of ordinary people will stimulate the pancreatic islets to secrete insulin to control blood sugar within the normal range.

However, diabetic patients develop insulin resistance or insufficient insulin secretion. If they consume too much sugar, blood sugar will rise.

If you’re giving/ allowing your diabetic family member to drink a bottle of fizzy drink just imagine the amount of sugar entering their body thus cause HIGH BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS.

PLEASE refrain from drinking sodas, fizzy drinks for the sole reason they contain sugar that will increase your sugar level.

Always check the ingredients labelled at the back to be sure of the amount of sugar going to your body also think about how it will affect your health.
