The Last Witness For The Day Was Ijeoma From AIT, Subpoenaed To Tender The Video Evidence -Okonkwo

In the ongoing presidential election petition tribunal in Abuja, a witness named Ijeoma Osamor from AIT (Africa Independent Television) testified on behalf of Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Mr. Obi is challenging the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25th election. Kenneth Okonkwo, who is both a legal counsel for Mr. Obi and a spokesperson for the Labour Party presidential campaign council, provided updates on the proceedings through his social media platform.

According to Okonkwo, Ijeoma Osamor, the witness from AIT, was subpoenaed to present video evidence showing the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) assuring Nigerians that the election results would be uploaded on the IREV Portal in real time on election day.

During her testimony, Osamor confirmed that the INEC Chairman never stated that the results would not be transmitted or uploaded on the IREV Portal, contrary to claims made by one of the respondents during cross-examination.

This development is significant as it challenges the narrative put forth by the respondent and supports Mr. Obi’s case that the election results were meant to be transmitted and made available for public scrutiny.
