A Nigerian doctor named Dr Tolu has shared a remarkable childhood experience involving his younger sister, recalling how she narrowly escaped being struck by a stray bullet about 26 years ago.
In a tweet shared on X (formerly Twitter), he said his six-month-old sister suddenly started crying loudly while sleeping in their parents’ bedroom.
However, the eldest sibling quickly picked her up, and minutes later, a deafening sound shook the flat.
In his words, he recounted:
“We rushed into the bedroom. And there, on the exact spot where my sister had been lying was a bullet. The bullet had pierced through multiple layers of the roof and struck the bed. Exactly where she had been sleeping.”
Dr Tolu said the family never discovered where the bullet came from, noting that there was no robbery, known gunfight or clear explanation for the incident.
He further reflected on the mystery surrounding his sister’s sudden crying, questioning why she started crying at that particular moment and why she stopped immediately after being carried out of the room.
“I can’t prove why she cried that day. I can only tell you what I believe. I believe God got our attention,” he added.
The doctor admitted that his training had taught him to search for logical explanations and cause-and-effect relationships, but said the experience remained one he could not fully explain.
Dr Tolu’s story has left many people reflecting on the possibility of divine intervention and the unexplained moments that can change the course of a person’s life.
He concluded that sometimes, the greatest miracles are not the things that happen, but the things that almost happen and somehow do not.
