TCN lists states to experience a blackout next Saturday

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Saturday announced that there will be a 24-hour power outage in parts of Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, and Taraba states.

The company’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, made this known in a statement where he disclosed that the outage was an important maintenance on its transmission network.

According to Mbah, the outage is needed to install Optic Fibre and Ground Wire (OPGW) on the 330kV Jos to Bauchi to Gombe Single Circuit Transmission Line at the Bauchi 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation.

TCN said the maintenance will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, and finish at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

During this time, the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) will not receive bulk electricity from the national grid to supply their customers.

TCN said electricity supply will be interrupted in Bauchi, Gombe, Damaturu, Maiduguri, Yola, Jalingo, and nearby communities for the duration of the work.

The company explained that this work is part of its efforts to make the transmission system stronger and improve telecommunications on the grid.

The company assured customers that power would be restored as soon as the installation is finished and apologised for any inconvenience the outage may cause.
