The Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN), Ibadan Chapter, has organised a visit to an orphanage in Ibadan, Oyo State, as part of its commitment to giving back to society, promoting compassion and putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged.
The humanitarian outreach, held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Jesus Children Missions Outreach, New Bodija Estate, Ibadan, was organised under the theme, “Together, We Can Make a Difference,” with a strong emphasis on love, generosity, compassion and support for vulnerable children.
The event, which also formed part of activities commemorating the 61st anniversary of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), brought together members of SWAN Ibadan Chapter and other well-meaning individuals to demonstrate the importance of giving, kindness and community service.
The outreach provided an opportunity for the women accountants to interact with the children, share moments of love and encouragement, and reaffirm the importance of collective responsibility in improving the lives of vulnerable members of society.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, the 9th Chairperson of SWAN Ibadan Chapter, Queen Atinuke Victoria Adedipe, emphasised the need for individuals and professional organisations to extend their influence beyond their workplaces by contributing meaningfully to the welfare of society.
The initiative reflected the chapter’s belief that even small acts of kindness, when undertaken collectively, can make a lasting difference in the lives of children who need care, encouragement and support.
The Chairman of the Orphanage Committee, Queen Olusola Omole, also played a key role in the organisation of the outreach, which underscored SWAN’s commitment to humanitarian service and the promotion of social well-being.
The visit was driven by the conviction that every child deserves love, attention, hope and opportunities to thrive, irrespective of their circumstances. The engagement also served as a reminder of the importance of nurturing the next generation through compassion, encouragement and community support.
As part of its call for public participation, SWAN Ibadan Chapter had earlier appealed to individuals, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to support the initiative through donations and other forms of assistance to enhance the welfare of the children.
The outreach further highlighted the role of professional associations in advancing social responsibility and creating positive impacts beyond their core professional activities.
According to a statement made available to newsmen, the successful completion of the programme marks another significant step in SWAN Ibadan Chapter’s efforts to promote unity, integrity, service and compassion, while aligning with the broader values of ICAN as it celebrates 61 years of professional excellence.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to sustaining the spirit of generosity and extending support to vulnerable children and communities.
The chapter expressed its appreciation to all members, donors, supporters and well-wishers whose contributions and participation helped make the outreach a success.
“The initiative reinforced the message that ‘Together, We Can Make a Difference,’ demonstrating that putting smiles on the faces of others is a shared responsibility and that acts of kindness can inspire hope and transform lives,” the statement added.
