Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted a suspected bandit and recovered an AK-47 magazine during an operation in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state.
The operation was carried out by troops of the 2 Battalion under Joint Task Force (JTF) North West, Operation Fansan Yamma.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Army said the suspect was intercepted during a snap roadblock operation at Damari on May 8.
The suspect was identified as Ibrahim Adamu, 32. According to the statement, Adamu was riding a motorcycle when he was apprehended by the troops.
The Army said an AK-47 magazine, three mobile phones, Indian hemp and other items were recovered from him.
The statement added that preliminary checks on the suspect’s mobile phone revealed photographs allegedly showing him dressed in military camouflage and carrying a PKT machine gun alongside other suspected bandits.
“The suspect and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation,” the Army said.
