A lady has recounted how a female student allegedly stood up to a lecturer who repeatedly failed her because she refused his advances during her polytechnic days.
According to the woman, the student was among several female students who became victims of the lecturer’s behaviour while they were in school.
She said the situation did not end with the students’ graduation, as the story of how the female student eventually confronted the lecturer later became known among their former schoolmates.
Student turns the tables
The woman said the student eventually agreed to meet the lecturer in his office, where she caught him undressed.
She claimed the student had planned the encounter carefully, with some other students reportedly positioned outside and ready to record what happened.
According to her account, the student allegedly took the lecturer’s clothes and fled from the office, leaving behind evidence that could be used against him.
The woman said the lecturer was subsequently expelled from the institution, while the student was able to complete her studies and graduate.
Woman praises student for standing her ground
Reflecting on the incident years later, the woman described the former student as a hero for refusing to give in to alleged sexual pressure from someone in a position of authority.
She said, “I hope she knows she is still a hero in my books.”
The account has highlighted the difficult experiences students can face when dealing with people who hold academic power over them.
While the woman’s recollection provides details of the alleged incident, it does not identify the institution, lecturer or student involved. The claims could therefore not be independently verified from the information provided.
