Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal have had their eye-watering bid of €140m for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, rejected by the Serie A club.

The Nigerian attacker has recently been touted for moves to Chelsea and Manchester United, but Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has placed a price on him that has scared off Premier League clubs.

Chelsea moved on to Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, while Manchester United have already reached an agreement to acquire Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.

Following the departure of Odion Ighalo, the Saudi giants are still in the market for a number nine, and given the star names that are heading for the Pro League this summer, they want to make a statement signing.

The Riyadh-based club were prepared to put €300 million on the table to get Kylian Mbappe off Paris Saint-Germain’s books, offering the player a base salary of €200m for just one season, but he refused to meet with their representatives.

Al Hilal who have also been rejected with by Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane, have now turned their attention to Victor Osimhen.

They reportedly offered €140m (N111bn) for Osimhen, but Il Mattino reported that Napoli rejected the offer right away in the hopes that the Nigeria star would agree to a new contract.

It’s been gathered that the Super Eagles player wants to stay in Europe and he has previously revealed how much he loves playing for Napoli.

Osimhen is currently one of the top strikers in Europe. He scored 31 goals in 39 games, in all competitions for Napoli last season. His goals helped the club lift the Serie A title after more than three decades.

Al Hilal is currently the most successful Saudi Pro League side with respect to high-profile signings this summer. The cash-rich Saudi club have already signed Malcom, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Kalidou Koulibaly.
