Senator Shehu Sani reacts to the signing of Student Loan bill into law by President Tinubu
In a reaction to President Bola Tinubu’s recent signing of the Student Loan Bill into law, a former member of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Shehu Sani has expressed deep concern over the implications for the third generation of Nigerian students who will be faced with unemployment and educational debts.
Recall that President Tinubu on Monday, signed the bill to give students access to interest-free loans into law. This will enable Nigerians secure loans to acquire tertiary education and pay back two years after their National Youth Service Corps.
Senator while reacting on Monday through his Twitter handle said that the first generation of Nigerians had the privilege of education leading to secured jobs, the second generation had education but no jobs, and now, the third generation will be faced with both unemployment and the burden of loan repayments.
Senator Sani wrote, “First Generation;finished school with jobs waiting for them.
Second Generation;Finished School without Jobs.
Third Generation;Finished school without jobs and with loans to pay.”
