Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has officially emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The confirmation was contained in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mike Idoko.
He explained that the process that produced the lawmaker was carried out through an affirmation exercise conducted simultaneously across all 57 wards in Kogi Central.
According to the statement, party members and supporters fully participated in the exercise, which was held across the senatorial district in a coordinated manner.
The exercise was completed across the wards before the final collation of results took place at Kahal Cinema in Okene. Party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters were present during the collation exercise, which formally concluded the process.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also monitored the entire exercise. Their presence, alongside media representatives, was to ensure transparency, compliance with electoral procedures, and credibility of the process.
After the collation, Senator Natasha expressed appreciation to party members and supporters for what she described as strong unity and overwhelming confidence in her leadership. She noted that the exercise reflected a collective commitment to strengthening internal democracy within the party and the senatorial district.
“This affirmation is a reflection of the trust and confidence the people of Kogi Central have continued to place in our collective vision for progress, inclusion and development,” she said.
She further described the large turnout across the 57 wards as a sign of political engagement and growing participation by party members in the district. According to her, the process went beyond personal ambition and reflected a broader desire for development and unity in Kogi Central.
“I am deeply humbled by the massive turnout across all 57 wards. This is not just about one individual; it is about our people coming together in unity to deepen democracy and build a stronger and more prosperous Kogi Central,” she stated.
Senator Natasha also assured her supporters of her continued commitment to representing the interests of the district. She pledged to maintain close contact with communities across the senatorial zone while prioritising development-driven representation.
“I accept this responsibility with gratitude and renewed commitment. By the grace of God and with the continued support of our people, we will remain focused on delivering sustainable development, justice and opportunities for everyone,” she added.
