Residents of Fanisau and Yankoli communities in Hadejia metropolis, Jigawa, have expressed relief following the restoration of electricity supply after a prolonged outage.
The affected communities had been without power for a considerable period after transformers serving the areas were damaged during the rainy season.
The outage, according to residents, disrupted business activities and heightened concerns over security, particularly during the night.

Following the development, the senator representing Jigawa Northeast Senatorial District, Ahmed Abdulhamid Malam Madori, facilitated the repair of the damaged transformers, leading to the restoration of electricity to the communities.
The Hadejia chapter of the APC Youth Organisation commended the senator for the intervention, describing it as a timely response to the needs of residents.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Comrade Barrister Hudu Hadejia, the group said the restoration had brought relief to residents who had endured prolonged darkness.
Hudu said improved electricity supply would contribute to better living conditions and support efforts to strengthen security across Hadejia metropolis.
He also noted that stable power supply was important to businesses, education, entrepreneurship and employment, particularly for young people.
The youth leader described the intervention as an example of responsive representation, urging elected representatives to remain attentive to the needs of their constituents.
According to him, residents of Fanisau and the wider Yankoli Ward had expressed appreciation for the senator’s prompt response to the electricity challenge.
“A safer and secured Hadejia is a stronger Hadejia, and a stronger Hadejia provides a better future for our youths,” Hudu stated.
The APC youth organisation further said the restoration of electricity would help create a safer and more economically viable environment and potentially discourage criminal activities.
The group urged relevant authorities and other stakeholders to sustain efforts to improve basic infrastructure and ensure reliable electricity supply across communities in Hadejia.
