Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has described the sealing of Falomo Mosque in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State as provocative and unjust.
MURIC made the declaration in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.
The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday evening.
DAILY POST gathered that the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA) sealed the mosque.
Our correspondent reports that the sealing of the mosque is coming a few hours before this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.
Akintola, in the statement, condemned the action of the agency.
He said the mosque was scheduled for Eid-el-Kabir prayers on Wednesday.
Akintola further called on the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to immediately unseal the mosque.
He said, “The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA), a government parastatal under the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, sealed up Falomo Mosque, Ikoyi, this afternoon.
“We demand the immediate removal of the seal from our mosque. Every necessary document has been procured for the construction. We also call on His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to intervene.”
