Reactions Trail As DSS Invites The Suspended Bawa

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission under the leadership of Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has decided to suspend Abdulrasheed Bawa, who is the Economic and Financial Crime Commission’s (EFCC) Chairman. Bala, who is the fourth executive chairman of the EFCC, was said to have been suspended by the former governor of Lagos State for what he considered weighty allegations of abuse of office.

In a statement that was issued by Peter Afunanya, Ph.D., fsi, Public Relations Officer, Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Abuja, the suspended chairman was invited for some interrogations by the DSS on matters that related to his services when he was the active EFCC Chairman.

The statement released read, “The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bawa arrived a few hours ago. The invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him.

There have not been any other substantial reports released by the DSS after the investigation. There is a likelihood that they will release more information about the embattled chairman.

Bawa is not the first person that Tinubu will be suspending as president of the country; the president also suspended Godwin Emefiele, who was the active governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria during the regime of the former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Buhari.
